A vintage lithograph of the notorious montage of Andy Warhol Superstar Candy Darling. Bernstein first created and published the image for Newspaper, the East Village based Art tabloid published by Affinity, Reality, Communication Inc. and edited by Steve Lawrence in 1972. Bernstein produced this color print shortly after and it famously hung in the entranceway of Max’s Kansas City alongside works by other now world famous artists who bartered works for dinner with the owner Mickey Ruskin. A pioneer in the visibility of the trans community, this image became a cult collectible and has never been offered for sale outside of auction resales by the lucky few who owned a copy.
